2016 was a turbulent year for us as a family and as a result it involved a lot of change, but thankfully all the changes in the second half of the year were positive, intentioned changes that we made for the good of our family. We now find ourselves starting 2017 in a pretty good place (both physically and metaphorically), and we’re excited :o)
This new year for us is all about family. It’s about spending time together, and importantly for us, it’s about getting outside and having adventures together…. Because that’s what makes us us. It’s what we love…. It’s what we used to do ALL the time… it’s how we met…. It’s what we love about eachother…. And it’s what we lost a little of when we became parents and also during some of the slightly more crazy times that we’ve had over the last couple of years. So ‘adventure’ is now being rightfully positioned back at the centre of our little family, which is the reason the whole ‘bigadventurefamily’ thing came about – to focus our attention on it, to prioritise it, to get organized and plan it, and to share it more with eachother through discussing it and writing blogs together, as well as hopefully striking a chord and perhaps inspiring or motivating some other people who may have found adventure being sidelined or denoted in a busy, chaotic and perhaps toddler-filled life.
So the main aims for 2017?
- To continue with our X County Challenge and have an adventure in every county of the UK (clearly we’re not aiming to do this all in one year but we hope to make a good beginning!)
- To get out on our new bikes for some mountain-biking adventures (LOooove my new bike!)
- To have 17 family campouts in 2017 (17 in 17!) either in our tent or from within the warmth of a camping-pod (still need to consider the safety of our 2-year old)
We’re already super excited about the camping trips – we’re going to wait for the frost to clear (!!) but we’re looking forward to some spring camping trips to blow away the cobwebs. Time to get planning!
So HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YOU ALL and here’s wishing you an adventure-filled 2017. I know ours will be :o)
